New month, new races!

New month, new races!

This week-end will take place the first races of October! This time, the Ultra-Trail® World Tour is staying in Europe for two races. Penyagolosa Trails® HG® and Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail® will take place on the weekend of October 16, while Ultra-Trail® Ninghai has confirmed its cancellation. The two events are worth 1000 UTWT points with 600 runners expected in Spain and 750 in Turkey.

Penyagolosa Trails® HG®

The weekend will start on Saturday at midnight (UTC+2) with Penyagolosa Trails® HG®. The race starts at sea level in Castellón and ends on the plateau of San Juan (1000m). It crosses the Penyagolosa massif winding through its mountains, valleys and trails. Runners have to complete the race in semi-autonomy and have less than 27 hours to complete the 110 km and 5590 M+. Several elite runners have been confirmed, including the Norwegian Tobias Dahl Fenre and the Spanish Gemma Arenas Alcázar.

Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®

Later in the morning it will be Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail® turns. The start time of this spectacular sporting event is set early in the morning, at 7 am (UTC+3). Runners have to complete the race in semi-autonomy and have less than 24 hours to complete the 119 km and 3730 M+. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, runners will cross the center of Anatolia and will evolve in a unique setting, immersed in the Turkish culture. It will be an unforgettable experience for participants who will have the incredible chance to cross magical nature and see fairy chimneys, rock churches and patterns of the colorful frescos covering underground cities.

Update on the 2021 UTWT calendar

While it was supposed to take place this weekend as well, Ultra-Trail® Ninghai announced that they were unable to organize their race due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing too much uncertainty.
Originally scheduled for November 6, the 100 km distance of Trans Jeju has been cancelled.
Originally scheduled for October 30, Thailand by UTMB® has announced the postponement of the event to December 9-12, 2021. At the same time, authorities have communicated the end of the quarantine for vaccinated visitors arriving from France, Spain, the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Korea.
